This dessert made with milk, eggs, and sugar is a classic reimagined for the air fryer.

Not only is it quick to make, but it also delivers an exceptional texture and flavor. Think delicate mini flans—quite different from their Japanese cousin, the savory Japanese egg custard.

Recipe by Stef Du Sud, shared on the official Facebook group dedicated to the air fryer.

How do you make egg custard in the air fryer?

One of this recipe’s biggest advantages is its flexibility. Add a little vanilla for extra warmth, or swirl in some liquid caramel for a luscious, sweet base.

Cook in two stages in the air fryer for perfect texture: start at 160°C for gentle cooking, then finish at 180°C. The result is a silky, comforting dessert—perfect after a meal or as an indulgent snack.

Which ramekins should you use for even cooking?

Ideally, aim for a maximum custard depth of 4 cm to ensure even setting. The jars used are 6.5 cm in diameter, but that won’t affect the cook as long as the 4 cm height is maintained.

Which cooking mode should you use?

Use the default ‘Air Fryer’ mode.
