Preheat the air fryer to 160°C using the default "Air Fryer" mode.
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, whole eggs, and sugar.

Add vanilla extract to taste, if desired.

Pour liquid caramel into the base of the ramekins, if you like.

Divide the custard among the ramekins.
Cook in the air fryer for 6 minutes at 160°C.
Increase the air fryer temperature to 180°C and cook for 6 minutes more.
Let cool to room temperature.
Refrigerate until well chilled.
Serve and enjoy.
Notes
Do not remove the air fryer basket; place the ramekins on top of it.Ramekin SizeIdeally, keep the custard layer no thicker than 4 cm to ensure even cooking. The ramekins used are 6.5 cm in diameter, which should not affect cooking as long as the 4 cm height is maintained.
