For those who’ve been following me for a while, you already know I’m half American cuisine. Here on the site, I’ve already treated you to my mom’s classic American cookies (one of the blog’s most popular recipes !), cinnamon rolls, and even the Big Mac recipe.

Long story short, today we’re going all-in on indulgence with this classic of American amusement parks and fairs : fried Oreos.
The Origin of Fried Oreos
The story of fried Oreos is relatively recent and often tied to the culture of fairs and carnivals in the United States. While the exact origin of the dish is a bit hazy, it’s generally considered to have taken off in the early 2000s.

Fried Oreos are Oreo cookies coated in pancake batter (or a similar batter), then fried until golden. This treat has become a staple at fairs (the famous « County fairs »), in amusement parks, and even on some restaurant menus.
They’re also easy to make at home, and people love to experiment with different batters and toppings.

- Do not put all the Oreos in the batter at once; they will turn soft and fall apart before frying.
- Fry 3 to 5 cookies at a time. Do not overcrowd the pot. They are done when the outside is golden, about 30 to 60 seconds.
- Transfer the fried Oreos to paper towels or a wire rack to cool, then dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve immediately.
