Made these black sesame cakes with matcha glaze for a family birthday dinner last weekend, and they looked so elegant on the dessert table. Everyone loved the nutty sesame flavor with the sweet matcha topping, and a couple of relatives went back for seconds 😊
Made these in muffin tins and baked them for about 17 minutes instead of 20, and they came out perfectly moist with crisp little edges. Also swapped the honey in the sesame paste for maple syrup since that’s what I had, and the flavor was still amazing 😊
Made these for dessert and the black sesame flavor with that matcha glaze tasted as good as, honestly better than, the version from my favorite Japanese cafe; the texture came out so tender and the glaze set perfectly 😊
Wasn’t sure about adding activated charcoal to a cake and worried it would taste earthy, but it actually made the crumb so tender and let the black sesame shine; the matcha white chocolate glaze ties everything together beautifully 😌
